Jet Mixing Nozzles
Jet Mixing Nozzles are simple devices that operate on the basis of the jet-venturi principle. Typically a Jet Mixing Nozzle has below arrangement and has 1 High Pressure(H.P) Liquid Inlet
Jet Mixing Nozzles are installed inside the tank and lie below the liquid level. When H.P Liquid is provided from the inlet it forms a high speed jet inside the Jet Mixing Nozzle. The high speed jet creates a low pressure area. Due to the low pressure area the surrounding liquid enters the Jet Mixing Nozzle. The surrounding liquid and the H.P liquid jet mix with one another and the liquid mixture is ejected from the outlet at medium speed.
As the Jet Mixing Nozzles sucks in the surrounding liquid, the surrounding liquid gets displaced and liquid from other areas in the tank takes its place. The medium speed jet exiting the Jet Mixing Nozzle comes in contact with the liquid inside the tank and pushes it along with itself. This combined action leads to the Jet Mixing Nozzle displacing and moving the liquid in the tank. When the Jet Mixing Nozzle is allowed to operate for some time, this movement of liquid creates a circulation pattern inside the tank and creates mixing and agitation.
Jet mixing system roles and functions
- Tank mixing to promote liquid mixing
- Tank mixing to obtain uniform agitation
- Tank agitation to avoid Solids from settling inside tank
- Tank agitation to avoid Sludge formation
Designing a Jet mixing System
Randomly installing Jet Mixing Nozzles inside the tank never ensures a satisfactory solution for achieving the required role from the system
Designing a jet mixing system is the most crucial part of the process as the design ensures whether the Jet Mixing system will satisfy its role or not.
We at Crystal TCS tank into consideration the required objective/role, fluid properties, tank size and geometry and available pumping infrastructure while designing the Jet Mixing Nozzle system.
Jet Mixing Nozzle System design consists of selecting the correct size of the Jet Mixing Nozzle, number of Jet Mixing Nozzles, their locations, their orientations and also the tank outlet locations.
We can also provide CFD simulations if required to supplement our designs

Benefits of our Jet Mixing Nozzles & Jet Mixing Systems
- Maximizes tank mixing and agitation while minimize the pumping and energy requirement.
- Ensures even agitation and circulation inside the tank. Eliminates any stagnant pockets inside the liquid mass.
- Has more distributed mixing effect when compared to agitator based mixing systems.
- All equipment lying inside the tank is static in nature i.e without any moving parts – ensure long reliability and maintenance free operation.
- All Dynamic equipment i.e Pumps, seals, valves lie outside the tank – facilitates ease of repair and maintenance without emptying the tank contents.
- Tolerate entry of solids particles into the Jet Mixing Nozzle – non clogging operation.
- Silent Operation
- Non sparking operation – can be safely used in tanks containing flammable liquids
- Manufactured in multiple materials – allows using the most cost-effective & chemically compliant materials for the application.
