Atmospheric Air Ejector / Liquid Ring Pump Ejector for boosting Liquid Ring Pump Vacuum
Liquid Ring Vacuum Pumps are a common equipment in Process Industries and are used for multiple applications across multiple sectors
The max vacuum created by the Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump is limited by its sealing water temperature.
The sealing water temperature varies to some extents in different parts of the world but has a large impact on pump performance.
Region Sealing Water Temp Max vacuum
°C mbar Torr
Europe & North America 20 ~ 25 32 25
South Asia, North Africa & Australia 30 ~ 35 55 40
Middle East 35 ~ 40 70 55
Region | Sealing Water Temp °C | Max vacuum |
Europe & North America | 20 ~ 25 | mbar: 32 Torr: 25 |
South Asia, North Africa & Australia | 30 ~ 35 | mbar: 55 Torr: 40 |
Middle East | 35 ~ 40 | mbar: 70 Torr: 55 |
Additionally as the pumps approach the max vacuum level their suction capacity drops drastically.
Multiple industrial process require vacuum in the range of 15~40mbar i.e 11~30 Torr and Liquid ring Vacuum Pumps are unable to satisfy them.
In such cases an air ejector can be mounted on the Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump to boost its vacuum. This air ejector uses air from the atmosphere as the energy input and hence is known as Atmospheric Air Ejector. As it is mounted on the Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump it is also known as Liquid Ring Pump Ejector.
The speciality of this Atmospheric Air Ejector and Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump combination is that the Ejector does not require any Electrical input or compressed air or pumped liquid for its operation.
But the Atmospheric Air Ejector and Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump combination system also needs to address the below critical aspects
• The ejector is completely dependent on the pump for its operation. Hence it is very important to design the Ejector based on the pump performance. Pump performance varies depending upon the sealing water temperature and hence needs to be carefully evaluated.
• If the Ejector capacity does not match with the pump capacity then the pump may get overloaded which will lead to loss in vacuum.
• Liquid ring pumps have standardized model range and hence standard performance & capacity, thus the ejector always has to be customized to suit the pump.
Benefits of the Atmospheric Air Ejector / Liquid Ring Pump Ejector
• Use Atmospheric Air as energy input / fuel – hence no additional infrastructure needed for operation.
• Custom design approach – The Ejector needs to match the Pump performance hence customizing the Ejector is critical. Customized design helps to provide the perfect fit for the vacuum pump.
• Can be manufactured in a large range of materials (Plastics, Stainless Steels, Exotic Materials)– it helps to select the best possible material compatible with the involved chemicals and reduces the risk of corrosion
• Atmospheric Air ejectors do not contain any moving parts and have large internal passage areas, hence are not vulnerable to liquid entry or clogging by solid particles.
• As they have no moving parts, maintenance requirements are very less. Also it reduces largely the risk of abrupt breakdowns, helps in maintaining the regular production schedule
